BBC: New Digital Media

This Article explains how the BBC are receiving major drawbacks in its financing as they're are a lot of TV consumers that aren't paying the Licence fee, this may be due to new digital media such as BBC on-line which enables viewers to watch BBC's products without paying the license fee. This has put a £150m hole in the BBC. By this drawback, the BBC now aims to cut down costs by cutting down jobs, offices and moving studios. They aim to become more leaner and simpler.

This article explains how the BBC are planning to move BBC3 to on-line only, meaning that its viewers are only able to watch its services on-line and not on TV. This is because of the BBC's financial issues and as BBC3 is targeted for a more younger audiences, most of these audiences prefer to watch TV on-line than its traditional method. This option is saving BBC £30m which is a positive sign for the future of BBC. But what will replace BBC3? BBC have opted for a BBC One +1 but the BBC Trust rejected this offer, this is because they believe the BBC already have on-line catchup and are not creating anything new for its viewers.
